President
Madeline Chudy

Madeline completed her undergraduate dual-major degree in Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and
is currently working toward a Masters of Computer Science. She works as a Mechanical Engineer at Medica Corporation, a company that manufactures blood analyzers for hospitals and doctors’ offices. Madeline is involved on the leadership team of Operation One, a charity organization aimed to support vulnerable children in Uganda. She leads teams of volunteers to Bugembe, Uganda each year to assist in completing projects to benefit the community’s health center, primary and secondary school, and child welfare center.

Co-President
Chris Sontag

Chris Sontag graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and also has completed his master’s degree in Global Studies and International Relations at Northeastern University. Currently, he works as an electrical engineering consultant studying the interconnection of renewable energy to the electric grid. He originally started with EWB at WPI as the Technical Chair and Vice President and is now a mentor with the group, having worked on water quantity / quality projects in Guatemala and Ecuador. In addition, he has also served with the Peace Corps in Benin as an Environmental Volunteer. In his free time, he likes to explore the city of Boston, play video games and travel! He is excited to get more involved in the chapter and to complete more projects in Tanzania!

Director of Development
Liam Amery

Liam Amery has been involved with EWB since his first semester of college. At UMass Amherst he was involved in the student chapter, specifically their project with the community of Nguluni, Kenya. His background is in Civil/Environmental Engineering and he now works as an Environmental Engineer in Boston after recently moving to Cambridge. In his studies and work Liam has mostly focused on drinking water projects and research in the U.S. but he is passionate about improving safe drinking water access worldwide which is the reason he
originally joined EWB. Liam is looking forward to becoming more involved in the Boston Professional Chapter and contributing to the great work that the chapter does!

Treasurer
Charles Conley

Charles joined the EWB-Boston Professional Chapter in 2014. As a new member, he became part of the project team for Water Purification in Honduras. This project, located in Guaimaca, consisted of a gravity distribution system to three adjacent villages totaling 39 households. Each household had a separate meter for billing purposes to ensure project sustainability. This project was completed in approximately five years and recognized by EWB-USA as one of its top projects.

Membership Coordinator
Ryan Barrett

Ryan joined EWB-BPC in May 2015. Prior to that, he was a member of the EWB-University of Hartford Student Chapter and worked on projects for the community of Abhaypur, India. Ryan is a Boston native who graduated from the University of Hartford with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He currently works for Cytiva (formerly GE Healthcare) designing pharmaceutical equipment. He also has experience in designing control systems, and automation. Outside of work Ryan enjoys cooking, working on cars, and practicing Capoeira.

Tanzania Program Manager
Barbara Piper

On her first visit to Tanzania in 2015, Barbara immediately fell in love with the beautiful country and its people and is fully committed to our partnerships with the communities of Mapinduzi, Mkutani and Chamhawi in the central region of Dodoma. She has a background in international business and finance and has been involved in a number of start-ups in the UK and US. She also has extensive R&D and Product Development experience in the medical device/pharmaceutical and electronics industries. Her academic credentials include a BS and MS in Polymer Science & Engineering with a specialization in biomedical applications of polymers and a MBA with a specialization in the Management of Technology and Innovation. She enjoys being outdoors (bicycling, hiking, kayaking and sailing) and traveling to all corners of the world.
